About Bakkumteo

Bakkumteo is a free web tool for converting file formats. It was built for the small conversions that come up all the time at work: a print shop needs EPS, a WEBP from the web won't open, or several photos have to be submitted as one PDF.

The name comes from Korean: bakkum means "changing" and teo means "a place for it", so Bakkumteo is simply a place where files get changed.

Why nothing is uploaded

Many converter sites upload your file to a server, convert it there and send it back. That is convenient, but handing ID cards, contracts or unreleased designs to an unknown server is uncomfortable. Bakkumteo does every conversion inside your browser. Files never leave your device, and we have no way of knowing what you converted. Once the page has loaded, conversion keeps working even if you disconnect from the internet.

How it works

Open-source software used

All other conversion features were written for Bakkumteo.

What it can't do

We'd rather be upfront. It can't read EPS or AI files and convert them into other formats, and PDFs can only be turned into images or merged. It doesn't auto-trace raster images into vector lines. When converting SVG to EPS, text, gradients, transparency and masks don't carry over exactly, and each affected file shows a warning.

Who runs it

Bakkumteo is run by the Bakkumteo team. Running costs are covered by the ads shown on the pages. If something needs fixing or you'd like a new conversion, let us know via the contact page.
